Today, 22nd August, Collinstown Action Group launched our CreativillAGE project “The Turning Wheel” film. Thank you to Councillor Paddy Hill Cathaoirleach of Westmeath County Council who officially launched this beautiful film for us.
We were delighted to be joined by Mrs. Norrie Flynn, Mrs. Eileen Castle, Jackie Reynolds’ niece Fiona and Gretta and Mary McDonnell, wife and daughter of the late John McDonnell.
Norrie, Eileen, Jackie and John were the story tellers who recounted the tales of old from the village from over 50 years ago.
We had a great turnout today lead by Teresa Doyle who coordinated this project. We were joined by Melanie McQuade, Heritage Officer Westmeath County Council, Cllr. Frank McDermott, Joe McNally Chairperson Collinstown Action Group, members of Collinstown Fore ICA, Collinstown Action Group and people who travelled from near and far to Collinstown today to be part of this heritage week event.
Four artists, of different disciplines came together to produce this wonderful CreativillAGE project “The Turning Wheel”. Artist Teresa Doyle, Writer and Broadcaster Manchán Magan and Film Makers Karl Somers and Nicola Lane of Little Cloud Productions.
Anne Kelly created a slideshow showing the work of the children of The Turning Wheel.

This beautifully made Film tells the story of life and lore from the Collinstown and Cummerstown area from over fifty years. Beautiful old photographs, film footage, a diary, interviews and the Children’s artistic response are skillfully embedded in this new Heritage document.
The film will be available on collinstown.ie in the coming days.
