Collinstown Christmas Fair
Christmas celebrations in Collinstown in 2017 and 2018 began with the Collinstown Christmas Fair. Collinstown Action Group organised a Christmas market in marquees around the village square with family entertainment and music. The event takes a lot of organising in the months and weeks leading up to it and we would like to thank all the members of the Collinstown Action Group committee for their hard work. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped us on the day, those who gave us marquees and bollards and those who set them up, the stewards, the hospitality crew and the face painters. Thank you to Collinstown Men's Shed and Collinstown Tidy Towns members for your hard word on the day. Thank you to Westmeath County Council for the generous funding, signage and for all your help. Thank you to Castlepollard Guards for your assistance. Thank you to the brilliant musicians who entertained us all day.
2017 Christmas Fair
In 2017 the fair was a winter wonderland with snow on the ground. We had over 20 traders who brought their craft and food to the village for the day. We are very proud of the Christmas Fair which was a fantastic event for Collinstown with a huge support from locals volunteering to steward, set up and serve the mulled wine. We were very proud to sell our Collinstown Christmas Cards at the fair and delighted to see them travel around the world bringing festive greetings.
2018 Christmas Fair
We were delighted to be back again for the second Christmas Fair. No snow this time so we created our own winter wonderland and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thank you to Kieran and John McNally and Fr. Patrick for turning on the Christmas Lights and of course to Santa.
Each year it is wonderful to see the village come alive with activity and happy faces. To see people of all ages and generations enjoying the same event and spending quality time together. Well done to all involved and thank you to all who came to support us as we kicked off the Christmas celebrations in Collinstown.
2019 Plan
For 2019 we will be focusing on the Tree Lighting Event in the evening and encourage our volunteers to assist with the long running Seniors Dinner. There will be no Christmas Fair in Collinstown, but this year we look forward to enjoying the fairs in and around North Westmeath.
