Collinstown Action Group are busy planning our latest project - mini community orchards all across Collinstown.  We have been awarded generous funding from Westmeath County Council through the Community Environment Action Fund for this project.  We are working towards planting around 50 fruit trees.

The team will be planting a variety of fruit trees in the green spaces, the estates, the school and in the green area in front of the school. We hope that these orchards will give communities a shared project in their shared spaces - that people will come together to pick the fruit and share the harvest around.  This also provides, healthy, home grown fruit for us to eat.

We look forward to working with the various groups who are volunteering to help plant the trees - Tidy Towns and Men’s Shed.  Thank you to Richard Hogan who, along with the trees, is providing invaluable advice and support for this project.
