Lough Lene Gaels 50th Anniversary Dinner Dance

Lough Lene Gaels Hurling Club 50th Anniversary Dinner Dance

Lough Lene Gaels is an important resource in the local Collinstown community, providing an outlet for young people to participate in sport in their own area, amongst their friends and families. The Club celebrates the 50th Anniversary of its founding this year.

It is one of the leading Hurling Clubs in Co Westmeath with the potential to be a leading club in Leinster. The club has a very good track record in terms of achievements on the field of play, not least in winning seven Senior County Championships since the Clubs formation in 1969.

Starting in 1973, Lough Lene Gaels won the Westmeath Junior Hurling Championship in the club`s first major success. This was followed by double Senior Championship victories in 1975 and 1976. Another highlight was winning three Senior Championships in a row in 1998, 1999 and 2000. Celebrating those successes will form a central part of the Clubs 50th Anniversary Dinner Dance in Crover House Hotel Mount Nugent on Saturday 16th November 2019. We would also like to honour the achievements of Lough Lene Gaels Camogie Club.

The Club vision is to have substantial facilities consisting of two pitches and other training facilities, as well as facilities for the use of the local community such as a walking path connected to Collinstown village via the new footpath along the Castlepollard Road which is being constructed on the initiative of the club and other community organisations and clubs.

As well as the above the club is planning to more than double Club membership, devote more time and other resources to Coaching, especially young people, and generally improve the working of the Club as an important resource for young people especially, to participate in sport and for all of us to have facilities that we can use and be proud of.

Following on the massive success of the Club`s “Night at the OsKaRs” in May this year, the 50th Anniversary Dinner Dance will be final opportunity to celebrate 50 years of success and achievement on the part of Lough Lene Gaels.

Tickets are on sale locally at €30 each from Club members and the usual outlets.
