Collinstown/Fore Community Games had a great showing at the Westmesth County Swimming Finals in Athlone Regional Sports Centre this evening 22nd April 2023.

We had entries in U10 boys where Bobby Nolan was awarded a bronze medal in 25m Freestyle in a tough race with lots of competition. Not to be outdone Toby Mulcahy swam his best and was also awarded a bronze medal having come through his heat in second place and making it into the final in U12 Freestyle. Next up was Aideen Kavanagh in U14 girls Freestyle..having made it through to the final Aideen was just shy of a medal placing fourth and was awarded a certificate for her efforts. Mia Rose Styles came in third in her U14 backstroke. In similar fashion Ci Ci Mulcahy placed third in her 50m breaststroke, hampered by swimming with her left arm in a cast to the elbow! In the last of the individual events, Chloe Mulcahy swam a beautiful breaststroke and came in several body lengths ahead of her opponent to place first and take gold.

Chloe will go on to represent Collinstown/Fore in the National Finals in Castlebar on 13th May. And after a last minute substitution as one of their team mates had fallen ill, Caireann Molloy stepped in to compete in a relay team U13, along with Ci Ci Mulcahy, Aideen Kavanagh and Jessica Nolan who didn't disappoint and also brought home a bronze medal each.

There was great support from parents and from Paula Mulcahy who stepped in to Referee the event. At the end of the day our local swimmers were delighted as everyone managed to medal!!
